These posters support learners with commonly misused words. Each poster addresses two commonly mixed up words, giving examples of correct usage, hot tips for remembering the difference and an image to associate with each word to support visual learners. There are 40 posters in the pack.

Using the posters

Word of the week

Have a rotating display where a different stumbling block is focused on each week. This could be a display in the classroom, around the school or on the school website.

Homework challenges

Learners could be challenged to find examples of the stumbling block in reading – bonus points if they can find an example of incorrect use!

Learners could develop their own help sheets for the stumbling block, voting on the class favourite.

Guess the word.

Challenge children to guess the word. Say a sentence and give the two word options. 5 points for a correct answer, 3 points if a clue is needed (Hot Tip), 1 point if both clues are needed.
