Can creating digital content deepen learners’ conceptual understanding of commutative multiplication?

This inquiry investigated the impact of creating stop-motion animations to demonstrate understanding of commutative multiplication, on the academic outcomes for a group of learners. The aims were to deepen learners’ conceptual understanding of commutative multiplication; to develop learners’ digital competence; and to increase engagement and enjoyment of maths.

It is imperative, therefore, that mathematics and numeracy experiences are as engaging, exciting and accessible as possible for learners, and that these experiences are geared towards ensuring that learners develop mathematical resilience.
